PostSubject: Archery Training   Sat Jan 17, 2009 12:53 am

Sure we've seen formations with melee squads etc and forms of melee attack and defence? but what about rangers and other bow / crossbow support?
Training sessions would also be a good idea to help with practice and also aid with gathering food materials

Hunting sessions:

Archers are given a time limit in which they must hunt as many wild animals as they possibly can.
The Archer who returns with the most meat for cooking is given a title / award / cash prize which would encourage constant practice and competition

Firing positions:

= archer
X = enemy
| or - = direction of arrowfire
8 = reloading archer

Encirclement -

This position allows little escape for enemies within the 'circle' but at the same time poses risk for the rangers attacking

Double-fire

This is one copied from the old style of english firing used in the movie 'Zulu' but with bows instead Razz

after firing, the row takes a step back and the back row moves forward to fire, giving the first row enough time to nock another arrow

I am sure I can assist with some tactics, but not for now.
