Important Notes:

Elemental Magic Schools clash - Fire and Water can't be learned simultaneously, and Earth and Air can't be learned simultaneously.

Spell Chanting is a BARDIC spell-school for supporting allies in combat, rather than doing massive damage.

Lesser and Greater Magic are prequisites for all other schools, so are not included in this poll (Since you will have to learn them both if you wish to use magic schools).

Wild Magic sounds interesting. Abit druidish? That and Spellchanting probably. (<3 Bards)

Aye, ritual magic will be awesome.

I do wonder why you've put Necromancy and Witchcraft together but put Arcane and Spell Chanting apart.

Because I feel the Necro and Witchcraft are more similar.

You're thinking of Arcane as NWN Arcane/Bardic type similar magic, right?

I think the Arcane will be more like WoW's arcane (Arcane missiles, arcane barrage type spells) and the bardic will be a buffer tree more than a direct damage one, so they'll be completely different.

This is currently outdated. I'm afraid Ritual and Wild magic are out according to this review:

Aventurine: I’m going to oversimplify this because the number of spells under each school are pretty diverse and the balance between the schools is too complex to go into much detail. The current magic schools in Darkfall are the following:

Lesser and Greater: these have to do with the level of magic performed; they include spells used in all kinds of situations. Lesser magic is the beginning school and is mainly a utility school with weak but useful and diverse spells.

Air Magic, Earth Magic, Fire Magic, Water Magic, which have to do with the elements to be used in various appropriate situations. Fire Magic for example has to do with destruction and damage and includes several strong area of effect spells.

Arcane Magic and Necromancy where holy and unholy types of spells can be found.

Spellchanting and Witchcraft where buffs and debuffs are included.

Arcane is the opposite of Necromancy in Darkfall. (Like Good/Evil. Holy/Unholy)
Spell Chanting is the opposite of Witchcraft in Darkfall (Buff/Debuff)
